Kenya is a nation with a rich history and many cultural sites that enable tourists dive into the past life . In every site is a different story that enables us learn the traditions, cultures , people and events that have shaped Kenya for generations.
One of the most prominent cultural sites is Lamu Old town where the Swahili culture has been preserved . While at Lamu you will see old buildings where customs and ways of life from long ago still exist. Tourists will see the traditional boats called dhows sailing on the ocean and sounds of local music and prayers feel up the air . The town shows how African, Arab and Persian cultures were mixed long ago . Tourists will enjoy festivals and thus remember how the people long ago lived .
Beyond that is Fort Jesus in Mombasa which was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century . The Fort was built to protect the trading interest and to create a safe environment away from enemies. Museums are located in Nairobi and other major cities and a visit here offers a quiet and convenient place for tourists to learn the past of the Kenyan people .
