List of Kenya Land Border Posts
Kenya has thirty five land borders shared with 5 countries that is Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia , South Sudan and Somalia .
These borders serve as vital gateways for tourism , trade and regional integration.
Below is a list of the list of Kenya land border posts;
- Kenya – Tanzania border
Namanga border
This is the main border crossing between Kenya and Tanzania. It is located about 140 south of Nairobi on the A104 highway. It is the busiest border handling over 800 vehicles daily including tourist buses to Serengeti .
Isebania or Sirare border
This boder connects Migori county in Kenya to Mara region in Tanzania.
It is an alternative route to Serengeti National park and handles fish exports from Lake Victoria
Lunga Lunga border
it is a coastal border near Kwale county and serves tourists between Diani and Tanga . It is the smallest of all the kenya to Tanzania border crossings .
- Kenya -Uganda border
Malaba border
This is the major transit hub located in western kenya near the northern corridor . It handles 75% of Mombasa – Kampala trade and processes about 1200 trucks daily .
Busia border
This is the second busiest Kenya ti Uganda birder crossing . Connects Busia towns in both countries. It is a major crossing for buses operational since 2018 .
Lwakhakha border
This is located in the Mount Elgon region and it a minor crossing used by local communities.
- Kenya – Ethiopia border
Moyale border
It is located in Marsabut county and a gateway Lamu port – South Sudan – Ethiopia transport corridor .
Mandera – Bulahawa border
Located in Northeastern Kenya and it serves local communities . Working hours are from 6am to 6pm .
- Kenya – South Sudan border
Nadapal border
It is located in the Turkana county and it is the only official border to South Sudan . It is mostly used for humanitarian aid delivery .
- Kenya – Somalia border
Liboi border
It is lovated near Dadaab refuge complex . It is the official transit point for UN agencies . There is highly restricted movement here and mandatory police escort .
While intending to use the above borders , tourists are required to carry their valid passport with minimum 6 months validity, East African tourist visa for multiple entry and vehicle insurance and logbooks for private cars .
