This 6 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Masai Mara Safari is one of a kind that combines two experiences in the same package (Gorilla trekking and game drive) and done in two countries. Gorilla trekking will be conducted in Rwanda in Volcanoes National Park, which is the most visited Park in Rwanda and one of the 4 destinations in Africa where you can encounter these endangered primates.
You will later cross into Kenya for game viewing experience in Masai Mara which is a gateway to a multitude of animals including the Big 5 and Big cats. The Big 5 mammals that you should expect are; lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. Other wildlife to be spotted are cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, antelopes, hippopotamus, crocodiles and lots of birds.

Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
On this day, our professional driver guide will pick you from the hotel / airport in Kigali and then transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. Travel through the city of Kigali which is the biggest in Rwanda, traverse via the villages that are spotted in rolling hills. You will drive for about 3 hours, arrive at the lodge near Volcanoes national park, have lunch and relax at the lodge as you are enjoying the stunning Virunga ranges and ambiance of the region. Have dinner and overnight as you get ready for trekking the gigantic primates next day.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up in the morning, greet your intestines with delicious breakfast. Head to the park headquarters for briefing by head ranger. You will be given guidelines to follow while trekking, and then be allocated a gorilla family to trek. Be led by the park ranger who is knowledgeable about gorilla behaviors and he will lead you to the family of gorillas.
Trekking always takes about 1-4 hours depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night. You will encounter these primates and spend an hour with them. Take pictures while your flashlights and camera sound is off to capture more moments. Later go back to the park headquarters. Here you will meet your driver guide who will drive you to the lodge for lunch and dinner. Depending on your choice, you can decide to go for Batwa cultural tour. Or relax at the lodge as you prepare to transfer to the mighty Masai Mara National Park.
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali for a flight to Nairobi, Kenya
Wake up in the morning for early breakfast. Then checkout of the lodge, drive to Kigali Airport where you will check in for onward flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Arrive in Kenya in the afternoon hours, have lunch and then be transferred to Masai Mara National Reserve.
You will have a stopover en-route to view the East African Rift Valley. Then get soaked in African wilderness of endless plains. Arrive at your lodge near Masai Mara in the evening hours, check-in, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4-5: Full day game drives in Masai Mara
In these 2 days, you will be taking packed lunch and get lost in the jungle whole day, searching for the Big 5 which are; lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos. And if you visit the park during dry season (especially August to November), record a lifetime experience as you see these wildebeests traversing Mara River. You will have a picnic lunch at a specific scenic view point as guided by your Safari guide.
Day 6: Masai cultural experience and departure
Arise in the early morning, have delicious breakfast and go to visit the Masai village. You will find these people so welcoming and happy, who will entertain you through their dances, stories, beliefs, names, food and lots of entertainment.
You will later proceed to Nairobi for lunch. Depending on the time of your flight, the driver guide will either drop you at the hotel. Or at Jomo Kenyatta Airport to catch up with your flight back home or connect to other destination.
