3-Day Samburu National Park Safari – Explore Kenya’s Wild North

Samburu National Park Safari: Samburu National Park is situated in Samburu county, central Kenya along the banks of Ewaso Ng’iro river. The Park is famous for hosting rare species of wildlife including Gravy’s zebras, Oryx calves, elephants, cape buffaloes, cheetahs, impalas, gazelles among other wildlife species.

The park is also famous for hosting a huge population of birds for example; grey headed kingfisher, bateluer, yellow necked spur fowl, superb starling, northern red-billed hornbill and so much more.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer from Nairobi to Samburu National Park

Our company representative will pick you from your hotel in the morning and set off to Samburu, a journey that takes about 5-6 hours’ drive, check-in your booked hotel in the afternoon, have lunch and go for evening game drive. For early arrival, head out to spot a few animals like herds of buffaloes, elephants, zebras, cheetahs among others and go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full day game drive in Samburu National Park

Wake up by 7:30 am, have breakfast, get your lunch packed and embark on the full day game drive. Morning hours present great opportunities of meeting animals. Here they are still active especially; predators looking for what to kill for the day and herbivores grazing.

Drive through the endless grassland plains of Samburu that have magical views when the vegetation is decorated with animals. You will meet lions, cape buffaloes, cheetahs, zebras, Masai giraffes and beisa Oryx. Settle for picnic lunch on the banks of River Ewaso Ng’iro. As you watch crocodiles, hippos, birds, butterflies and other animals coming to drink water.

After lunch, continue exploring the park till late evening when the nocturnal animals start showing up. You will go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Samburu cultural tour and departure

On the 3rd day of your trip, wake up and get a cup of tea / coffee. Checkout of the hotel and visit native Samburu community which is adjacent to the park. This is largely a pastoral tribe.

You may engage in milking, grazing, and entertainment like dances, songs. Listen to their ancient stories and later embark on return journey to Nairobi with a stopover for lunch. The driver will either drop you at the hotel in Nairobi or at the Airport depending on your flight time.
