7-Day Safari – Nakuru, Maasai Mara, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Exploration

7 Days Safari to Kenya and Tanzania is one of the mega adventures which is a rewarding journey to the African jungle. One should expect much from this safari that will take place in 4 protected areas which are in 2 countries, meaning that one will explore the indigenous cultures of both countries, not forgetting the iconic wildlife found in these parks, accompanied by beautiful sceneries. The safari will expose you to the migration of famous wildebeests, gazelles, zebras that traverse Mara River entering Serengeti National Park.

This Wildebeests migration always attracts predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards and some scavenger birds like vultures, eagles which are always seen in the action. The traveler should expect other wildlife like Masai Giraffes, African buffaloes, Elephants, Rhinos, Antelopes to mention but a few and a number of birds since all the destinations are bird-breeding centers. This trip starts in Kenya and ends in Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Transfer from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National park

After breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from your hotel and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. This Park is located in southwest of Kenya’s capital City – Nairobi. Taking you about 3 hours to reach the Park with stopovers for scenic viewing and photographs.
Arrive in the afternoon, check-in at the hotel, have lunch and go for evening game drive where you will spot African elephants, herds of buffaloes, lions, leopards and many other animals. Retire to your lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2. Game drive and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive to catch up with nocturnal animals like leopards, lions, hyenas as they go back to their dens, meet grazers that survived last night’s predators and enjoying the chirping melodies of birds getting out of their nests, see the pinkish color of Lake Nakuru shoreline covered by millions of flamingos.
Go back to the lodge, check-out and set off for Masai Mara National reserve. You will reach in the evening. Do a short game drive to spot some wildlife and get back to your lodge for accommodation and dinner.

Day 3. Full day game drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve

You will wake up in the early morning by 7:00am, have breakfast, get packed lunch and get lost into the jungle. Meet the nocturnal animals winding up with hunting, grazers like buffaloes, impalas, gazelles that survived predators also going to have what to eat. You will meet schools of wildebeests giving birth, cheetahs chasing Topis, zebras and buffaloes always mixed together in the endless open savanna grasslands.
Picnic lunch will be served at the scenic view point of the Mara River as you see wildlife drinking water and surrounding the River. You will retire to your lodge in the late evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4. Game drive and transfer to Serengeti National Park

Wake up in the morning, have early breakfast, go for a game drive to have a last spot in the Mara land as you say a farewell to the Park. You might get a chance to spot some species that you did not spot the previous day.
Continue with the trail that sets you out of the park. You will go through scattered Masai villages. ere you will have a stopover, interact with locals, have lunch and continue to Serengeti National Park. You will reach in the evening hours, check-in the hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 5. Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park

Arise in the morning and set off for a game drive in Serengeti to catch the nocturnal animals like leopards, lions, hyenas, bush babies, jackals before they shy away because of the hot temperatures.
Spot a number of wildebeests and if you visit the park in the dry season (May to August) you will spot migration of wildebeests crossing Grumeti River making thunderous hoofing, attracting predators – those on land and in water like African alligators (crocodiles). Go back to the lodge for lunch and afternoon go back to the Park to have the last spot of the day.

Day 6. Game drive transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake up in the early morning. Have breakfast and go for the morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. You will sport some animals and then go back to the lodge, check-out and embark to the journey to Ngorongoro Crater National Park.
Leave open savanna grassland and enter the crater dome of Ngorongoro. It  is mountainous with dense animal population including elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, leopards, elands and so many birds. You will descend into the crater after scenic views. Picnic lunch shall be served. Then continue to the Park, reach in the late evening, check-in your hotel and night stay.

Day 7. Game drive and departure

Get up early in the morning, go for game drive before temperatures rise. Catch up with animals when they are very active. Spot large prides of lions, herds of elephants and buffaloes, antelopes alongside birds like spoonbills, black-headed heron, great white pelican, marsh sandpiper, tawny eagle, black kite, to mention but a few.
Later go back to the lodge, say farewell. Head to Arusha for departure flight to your next destination or home. You will have lunch enroute in Arusha. Depending on your time of flight, the driver will either drop you at the hotel or at Airport.
